Changes you can make in the app

Open More, then edit your profile to change your event display name or marketing preference. These changes apply to the selected event. An event display-name change does not necessarily change account metadata or records at other events.

Open Privacy & your data to remove your registration for that event. The current action deletes the event registration, its saved makers, and its associated privacy/marketing records. The sign-in account and other event registrations remain.

Open Your data (/account/data) and sign in with an email code to see which events and workspaces your account is linked to, download a copy of the information Perka holds about your account as a file, send a request, or delete your whole account.

Make a request

Use Your data (/account/data), or email legal@joinperka.com, to request access, correction, objection, deletion, or help with your account. Include the account email, the relevant event if any, and what you want us to do. If you are asking to close the entire account, say so explicitly.

Do not include a password, sign-in code, or identity document in your first message. Proportionate identity or authority checks may be needed before personal information is disclosed or changed. The request process and applicable response periods must be confirmed before launch; this draft makes no automatic-approval or completion-time promise.

Full-account deletion

Visitors and vendors can delete their whole Perka account at Your data (/account/data) after typing their email address to confirm. This removes the sign-in account and, at every event, the registration and everything attached to it: saved makers, agenda, ticket, check-in, networking profile and contacts, votes, questions, stamps, rewards, competition entries, exhibitor sharing choices, terms acceptances and consent records. Leaving one event, signing out, clearing cookies, uninstalling the web app, or removing Perka's access in your Google account settings does not delete the account.

Accounts that organise events are closed by Perka on request, once each event has another organiser, so an event is never left unmanaged. Perka keeps a record that an account was deleted, holding only a one-way hash of its email address, so the deletion can be confirmed later and repeated if a backup is restored. Provider backups are not edited and expire on their own schedule. Copies already downloaded by organisers or exhibitors are outside Perka's control.

Marketing and organiser-held copies

Changing your marketing preference updates the current event record and removes an opt-out from future marketing-opt-in exports. It does not send an update to a list already downloaded by an organiser.

Contact the organiser or sender about previously exported copies and use the unsubscribe method in any message. You can also raise the issue with Perka at the legal contact. Marketing permission is separate from necessary event administration.

Access requests and complaints

Some rights are subject to legal conditions and justified retention. If a request cannot be met in full, the applicable process should explain the reason and available recourse. Formal access requests can use the PAIA process.

You may raise privacy or access-to-information concerns with South Africa's Information Regulator. Its official pages provide current complaint procedures and forms.

To complete before publication

  • Confirm the request-handling owner, identity checks, applicable response periods, and account-deletion operations.
  • Agree retention and the process for organiser-held exports and backups.
